A TASTE OF OVERNIGHT CAMP AT...

We are incredibly excited by the feedback from Zodiac campers, families and staff about Zodiac’s overnight camp, Camp Tamarack.  Camp Tamarack is one of Ontario’s most respected and established overnight camps.  Its impressive facilities are located on a beautiful private lake in the heart of Muskoka.  After having enjoyed hosting hundreds of Zodiac campers and dozens of Zodiac families in Summer 2011, we look forward to having many Zodiac campers take the next step in Summer 2012 by becoming full-fledged Tamarack campers.  We can’t wait for such campers to enjoy Tamarack’s multi-faceted program and camp spirit, all while building friendships and memories.

While a number of Zodiac campers turning 7 and older in 2012 will enjoy Tamarack’s 4-week, 3-week and 7-week sessions, 6-11 year old campers have some exciting additional options.  In order to give 6-11 year olds many of whom have not yet experienced overnight camp a “taste of Tamarack”, we offer the following opportunities:

Acorn Program:

Campers turning 7-12 years old in 2012, most of whom are new to Tamarack, have the option of registering for Tamarack’s introductory Acorn sessions as follows:

            Acorn I:          Friday June 29 – Thursday July 12, 2012 (2 weeks)    

            Acorn II:         Thursday July 26 – Friday August 3, 2012 (9 days)

            Acorn III:        Monday August 6 – Thursday August 16, 2012 (11 days)

The beauty of this option is that Acorn campers are guaranteed to be able to extend (for the rest of the full session which their Acorn session is at the start of) their stay at Tamarack when their session ends too soon (with no financial penalty if registered at Zodiac)(This extension option is not available for Acorn III which is at the end of our Summer 2012 camp season).

Mini-Acorn Program... "Taste of Tamarack":

Campers turning 6-11 in 2012 who in Summer 2012 register for at least one session at Zodiac Day Camp have another mini “Taste of Tamarack” weekend opportunity AT NO COST.  Other children the same age (e.g. friends, relatives, etc.) who do not or cannot attend a session at Zodiac in Summer 2012, or Zodiac campers/Tamarack siblings, who have previously attended a Mini-Acorn “Taste of Tamarack” Weekend, are welcome to participate in the amazing Mini-Acorn 3 day, 2 night opportunity at a reasonable cost of $195.00.

WHEN?

Three different three-day, two-night weekend experiences at Tamarack are available, departing at approximately 9:00 am on Friday from Zodiac’s TFS campsite and returning at approximately 4:00 pm on Sunday as follows:

Mini-Acorn I:                          Friday July 13 – Sunday July 15, 2012

Mini-Acorn II:         Friday July 27 – Sunday July 29, 2012

Mini-Acorn III:        Friday August 3 – Sunday August 5, 2012

WHAT?

Our Mini-Acorn campers have full access to Tamarack’s wonderful facilities and programs as our caring, committed staff provide them with the time of their lives. Campers will be immersed in Tamarack’s camp spirit, including participation in an incredible variety of land, water, arts and other programs. Campers will join in all aspects of camp life from cheering in the dining hall to fireside sing songs and roasting marshmallows. They’ll even write their first letter home from camp! All Mini-Acorn campers will enjoy Tamarack’s great accommodations, food, programs, receive their own Tamarack T-Shirt and, more importantly, meet new friends and develop wonderful camp memories.

WHO?

The “Taste of Tamarack” Mini-Acorn experience is available to any child turning 6-11 (finished grades SK -5).  A camper registered for at least a 1 or 2 week session at Zodiac in Summer 2012, or a sibling of a Summer 2012 Tamarack camper, who has not previously attended a Mini-Acorn “Taste of Tamarack” weekend, may attend at no cost.  A Zodiac camper may miss a Friday (July 13th in Session 1, July 27th in Session 2, or August 3rd, in Session 3) if enrolled in the session during which the weekend Tamarack experience is taking place (in which case you will not be entitled to any discount off your Zodiac fee).  As noted above, non-Zodiac campers, or Zodiac campers or Tamarack siblings who have previously participated in a Mini-Acorn experience, can register on the Zodiac Registrations form for a fee of $195.00 (which will be fully creditedagainst any Acorn or longer session registered for by such camper in Summer 2012 or 2013.)  Campers will be accompanied and supervised at all times by Zodiac staff, as well as having the opportunity to extensively interact with Camp Tamarack staff and campers.

WHY?

Even though many 7-11 year olds are not only ready for, but thrive in, a 9 or 11 day, or 2, 3, 4 or 7 week session at Tamarack, we are delighted to be able to offer campers an opportunity to try the Tamarack overnight camp experience in an excellent introductory weekend. Some need and enjoy a more gradual introduction and the Mini-Acorn weekend opportunity is perfect for them to “get their feet wet!”  If, as a result, some of the campers participate in a longer session at Tamarack in Summer 2012 or 2013, that would be great!  Sessions at each of Zodiac and Tamarack sound like a pretty awesome summer!

HOW?

You can register your camper for the Tamarack Mini-Acorn weekend experience right on the Zodiac camp registration form.  As described above, Zodiac/Tamarack are pleased to assume the cost of the entire 3-day, 2-night Tamarack overnight camp experience (including all programs, meals, accommodation, supervision and transportation) (other than a non-Zodiac camper, or a Zodiac camper, or a sibling of a Summer 2012 Tamarack camper who has previously participated in a Tamarack weekend experience, who will, as mentioned, pay a fee of $195.00).  Please note that a $50.00 deposit is required at the time of registration to reserve a space for your camper (a pre-authorized payment of another $145.00 dated May 1st, 2012 is required for all campers required to pay the $195.00 fee for the Tamarack weekend experience).  For a Summer 2012 Zodiac camper, or a sibling of a Summer 2012 Tamarack camper, attending Tamarack for the first time, the $50.00 deposit will be refunded in October 2012 unless you cancel your camper’s enrollment less than two weeks prior to the start of the weekend in question. Any other cancelling camper will be charged a $50.00 administration fee for cancelling up to 2 weeks prior to the start of the weekend in ques­tion and a $195.00 administrative fee for cancelling less than 2 weeks prior to such weekend. Any cancellation must be received in writing.

NEW “Day-Corn” Program (Saturday August 11, 2012)

We are excited to provide a new one day, 8am to 8pm, trip on Saturday August 11, 2012, for any campers turning 6 to 12 years old in 2012 (finished grades SK to 5) (first come, first serve). This is an amazing same day exposure to Tamarack’s programs, facility, spirit and people. The reasonable cost for this day drip is $95.00 and includes return coach bus transportation to and from Toronto, lunch and dinner, a variety of Tamarack land, water, and arts activities, and even a Tamarack t-shirt! A Summer 2012 Zodiac Swim & Specialty Camp camper or a sibling of a Summer 2012 Tamarack camper can participate in this day trip opportunity at NO COST. This trip is not available to any camper who has previously participated in a day trip, weekend or longer session at Tamarack. Tamarack “Day Trips”!

We look forward in Summer 2012 to continuing to make available a series of single day Tamarack experiences for Zodiac campers during their time at Zodiac.  Safe and supervised coach bus transportation departs from our TFS campsite at 8am and returns at 8pm.  In between, exposure to a variety of Tamarack activities, spirit, and excitement leaves everyone wanting more!  We look forward to communicating the dates, and the campers turning 6-12 year old for whom the day trips will be available, in our Zodiac Summer 2012 Parent Handbook in May 2012.
