Frequently asked Questions…Swim School:How should I apply? Please complete and submit our Zodiac Swim School Staff Application form, together with copies of your current, applicable qualification. The staff application can be found and downloaded from www.zodiacswim.on.ca . When Should I apply? Zodiac Swim School accepts staff applications on a year-round basis for our Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer sessions. Will I get an interview? If your staff application is filled out completely, thoroughly and thoughtfully, you are most likely to be invited to attend an interview. Subsequent to the interview, if a mutual interest exists, references will be checked and if the applicant meets the needs of an available job, an offer of employment will be made. What wages can I earn? Zodiac Swim School’s staff hourly wages are very competitive with other programs. The hourly rate depends on certifications, experience, Zodiac loyalty, Zodiac Camp experience and varies from $11.00 to $18.00 per hour depending on qualifications, age, experience and type of position. When am I paid? Wages for all hours worked in a particular month are paid by no later than the 15th day of the next month. What hours/time can I work? Zodiac’s shifts range from 2 to 5 hours in length. Staff may work anywhere from a single shift to multiple shifts. How old are most staff? Most staff range in age between 16 and 22 years of age. Some older staff are employed in regular or supervisory position. Day Camp:Day camp offers employment for Summer Camp positions and March Break Positions. How should I apply? Please complete and submit our Zodiac Day Camp staff application which can be downloaded from www.zodiaccamp.on.ca When should I apply? Summer Camp: Summer Camp begins to accept staff applications for its summer program as early as September after the previous summer. Applications are accepted up to and during the summer as some positions may be available closer to the time of camp in some cases. March Break Camp: Applications are also accepted primarily in January and after for March Break Camp. Will I get an interview? What wages can I earn? Zodiac Day Camp’s salaries are paid in a lump sum (not an hourly wage) and are based on age, school year, qualifications, type of position, length of contract etc… Please note that day camps are exempted from paying minimum wage due to providing youth with leadership opportunities (even though a number of older staff end up earning in excess of minimum wage). March Break Camp wages are based on a daily amount. When am I paid? Zodiac Day Camp’s staff salary is for most people split, two-thirds as base salary and one-third as a completion bonus. One half of the base salary is paid on July 31 and the other half of the base salary, together with the completion bonus, is paid one week after the completion of the summer camp season. March Break Camp wages are paid within one week after completion of such camp. What hours/time can I work? Zodiac Day Camp’s seasonal employment is usually for the full 7-week July/August camp season (primarily Monday-Friday 8:30am – 4:45pm). Shorter contracts for 4 or 6 weeks are available in certain cases. March Break jobs are available for full weeks or half/full days to accommodate post-secondary students. How old are most staff?
