STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Camp Day/Session

  • The camp day is from 8:45am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.
  • There is no camp on Monday August 6, 2012 (fees for 9-day Session 3 have been adjusted accordingly).

Health & Safety

  • Fully qualified nurse at camp site at all times.
  • Low camper-to-staff ratio to ensure maximum supervision.
  • All staff are required to wear the camp uniform and nametags for easy identification.
  • All staff have been trained in emergency first aid care and a number are certified in First Aid and CPR.
  • Camp office located at the TFS camp site in room 112 during the 7-week camp season: office, telephones (summer phone number is 416-480-6975), cell phones and walkie talkies allow for maximum communication with specialty areas/sites and parents, as necessary.
  • Campers should come equipped with appropriate sunscreen, hat, etc.

Allergies

At Zodiac, we are very concerned about food or other allergies affecting our campers and staff, particularly where exposure to certain foods can be life threatening. We ask that every family make us aware of any allergies so that we may do our best to ensure the allergic person’s well-being. We will ask each family to complete a more comprehensive allergies form in our May mailing in an attempt to increase our knowledge and bolster safety further.
  • TFS "NUT" POLICY- TFS and Zodiac are committed to working cooperatively with staff, children and families to reduce the risk of anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) from food and other causes. While it is not possible to eliminate all risks, in a commitment to provide the safest conditions possible, TFS and Zodiac require that Zodiac families refrain from bringing or sending nuts and nut products or products labelled “may contain nuts”, in any lunches or snacks sent from home.

Rain Or Shine

The amazing combination of facilities that the Camp has at our TFS campsite means that the campers get a terrific balance of indoor and outdoor programs.
  • If inclement weather occurs, however, every specialty area has a thoroughly effective, workable and weather-safe indoor facility/program alternative.

Before Camp Starts

The Summer 2012 Parent/Camper Handbook with specific details regarding required equipment, door-to-door bussing and bus depot details, pick-up and drop-off procedures, program details, staffing, lunch menu, etc., together with forms (health & individual needs, lunch and swim as applicable) to be completed and returned. Further specific newsletters will be sent via email and posted on our web site prior to the start of and during each session.

Parent Days

Zodiac’s popular parent days, for specialty campers primarily in Sessions 1, 2 and 3, enable parents, other family members and friends to enjoy each camper’s fun, success and accomplishments at Zodiac!More detailed information about timing and structure of parent days will be outlined in our Summer 2012 Parent/Camper Handbook.

Program Cancellation

If an insufficient number of campers have registered for a particular program, such program may be cancelled (with as much notice as possible).
  • If the Camp determines that a camper may not be comfortable in a particular program (e.g. gender/age mix), the camper’s family will be contacted by the Camp to discuss other alternatives (with as much notice as possible).
  • In the above situations, campers will be given every available option to switch to an alternative program or session; if no acceptable accommodation can be made, a full refund of any monies paid will be issued.
